Charles River Tsunami Swim Team 2008-2009

General Information

Practices start in September. The first meet will be in November. There are about eight Saturday afternoon meets and a season ending February league championship.  Swimmers qualifying for the regional championship will have additional practice time until the middle of March. With the exception of high school swim teams our swimmers may not compete for any other swim team during our league season.

Swimmers are grouped by age as of December 1, 2008 into the following classes:

8 & under - "E" Class    9 & 10 - "D" Class    11 & 12 - "C" Class    13 & 14 - "B" Class    15 to 18 - "A" Class

Championships

Children must qualify by time to swim at Districts which are held at Medford High School. They run over two weekends starting at the end of January. Each age group competes on one day in 6 hours or less of meet time. The Regional YMCA Championship is for New England's best YMCA swimmers. It is held in March. We have placed swimmers in this meet the last four years and provide practice time for those who qualify.

Requirements

Team members must be at least 7 years old on October 1 and must be able to:

    Dive correctly off the starting blocks.

    Under 9 swim at least 2 competitive strokes correctly.

    Under 11 swim at least 3 competitive strokes correctly.

    11 and up swim all 4 competitive strokes.
