Beginning (I and II)
Students with little or no English experience choose from two levels of beginning English classes. Classes introduce basic English sentence structure, grammar and vocabulary through extensive reading, writing and conversation practice. Grammar topics include the simple present and past tenses, singular and plural nouns, possessives, time frames, pronouns, prepositions and more. Upon course completion, students can communicate and understand basic information about their lives and routines.
Intensive Option: This very active, participatory option provides students with additional opportunities for controlled conversation practice.

Intermediate (I and II)
Students with some English background choose from two levels of intermediate English classes that significantly improve competencies in speaking, reading, writing and listening. Students gain the grammar proficiency and solid working vocabulary needed for more advanced English study. Grammar exercises cover the present perfect, past, and future tenses, modals, phrasal verbs, gerunds, infinitives, the passive voice, and more. Class includes extensive opportunities to practice speaking, improve pronunciation, and develop stronger reading and listening comprehension skills.
Intensive: This immersive English class experience quickly increases proficiency through a selection of interactive classroom exercises. Depending on the instructor, students may engage in classroom discussions about areas of student interest; write, rehearse, and perform skits; participate in workshops on paragraph structure, punctuation, and written composition; or read and discuss true short stories to build comprehension skills.

Path to Fluency: Advanced Speaking and Pronunciation
Forty-percent of the information in a spoken language is communicated through tone. In this English class, we refine the competencies students already have in speaking English by focusing on how to use rhythm, stress, and intonation to increase clarity. By the end of the 8-week cycle, all students (not just some) hear significant improvements in their own pronunciation. Students also acquire specific skill sets in further improving their own pronunciation that they continue to utilize long after they have graduated. Our unique curriculum for business professionals, medical doctors, attorneys, university students, and doctoral candidates draws students from MIT, BU, Northeastern, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s, and other outstanding organizations.
