About Us
Our Mission
The YMCA of Greater Boston is dedicated to improving the health of mind, body, and spirit of individuals and families in our communities. We welcome men and women, boys and girls of all incomes, faiths and cultures.
About OUR PROGRAM
The YMCA International Learning Center (ILC) program is proud to be part of the YMCA of Greater Boston, the largest provider of social services in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Focused on social responsibility, this learner-centered, goal oriented program has been offering English language and literacy courses to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) since 1975.
Serving adults ages 16-70 in free or affordable classes, experienced, credentialed teachers work from a curriculum that features life skills and cultural information as well as topics for conversation, reading, and writing. In addition, through the Partnership for Adult Learning Services (PALS), students receive private tutoring and information and referrals for support services, job training, higher education and employment.
The YMCA International Learning Center and YMCA Training, Inc. are part of the YMCA's Education and Training branch and collaborate regularly as part of their programs and initiatives.
Programs at the ILC enjoy Public/Private sponsorship including funding from the Highland Street Foundation, the Boston Foundation, Microsoft Unlimited Potential Program, the United Way, English for New Bostonians and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
