$20,000 Donated to the YMCA by Gilbane Boston Golf Event - July 2008
Gilbane Building Company's Boston office hosted their First Annual Charity Golf Classic on Monday, June 23rd, at the Black Rock Country Club in Hingham. The charity event resulted in the presentation of a $20,332 check to the YMCA of Greater Boston.
John Ferrell, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Boston, was pleased with the outcome. "The YMCA of Greater Boston is extremely grateful to have been chosen by Gilbane to receive the proceeds of this year's golf tournament. Each year, more than 40,000 people from all over Greater Boston enter our branches seeking financial assistance for child care, camp, after school programs, health and wellness programs and much more. The Y's ‘Reach Out' Campaign raises the money needed for these requests annually and the funds from this year's golf tournament have been designated for this fund. My sincere thanks to all the event organizers, sponsors and players who made this tournament such a great success."
The event attracted 132 golfers as well as generous sponsorship support from trade contractors and vendors. During the dinner reception, Central Ceiling, Inc. and B&G Mechanical Contractors, Inc. received "Excellence in Safety" Gilbane achievement certificates in recognition of their exemplary safety performance on Gilbane job sites.
The event concluded with sincere words of thanks from John Ferrell, followed by heartwarming speeches from seven youth members of the Hyde Park YMCA. Don Michaels, Gilbane's Vice President and Mass. District Manager, captured Gilbane's gratitude to all attendees at this charity event in his closing remarks. "Because of your kind generosity, the YMCA of Greater Boston can continue to reach out to the many families that benefit from and rely on their services. Gilbane is grateful for your support and participation in making this generous donation to the YMCA of Greater Boston a reality."
