When we say the Y builds “strong families,” it’s not just a slogan. It’s a tradition, a daily fact of life and a point of great pride.
The Y is at the heart of strong communities in metro Boston. We provide affordable and accessible programs to more than 100,000 children, teens, adults and seniors every year, thanks to nearly 1,500 employees, 550 summer teen employees and 1,500 dedicated volunteers.
We are building a strong future for young people and teens. We serve more youth than any other non-profit in Boston with an array of diversion, leadership development, skill building and healthy lifestyle programs.
The Y is laying a strong educational foundation for our children. We provide childcare and after-school programs for more than 3,300 children each school day in greater Boston. The Y is the largest licensed childcare provider in Massachusetts.
And, we are contributing to a stronger, more inclusive local economy. We help 4,000 individuals a year from 35 countries learn to participate in our community and the local economy through English as a Second Language and job training programs.
The Y has become the largest provider of social services for children and families in greater Boston. You can see a map of the communities we serve here. By working hard to successfully meet the changing needs of children and families, our people and our services are increasingly viewed as a true community benefit by average citizens and civic leaders alike.
