Work at the Y

Dorchester - Lifeguards and Swim Instructors

The Dorchester YMCA is seeking friendly and responsible SWIM INSTRUCTORS and CERTIFIED LIFEGUARDS. Come work at a warm, community-oriented branch with a great employee and volunteer team and membership.

LIFEGUARD candidates must have current certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Having certifications in AED for the Professional Rescuer and Oxygen Administrations is helpful, but must be willing to get certified within 1 (one) month of employment (employer will help in receiving certification). All qualified candidates must past a pre-employment swim test consisting of a 500 yard swim, treading water for 2 minutes with legs only and recovering a 10 lb. object off the bottom of the pool.

SWIM INSTRUCTORS should have experience teaching swim lesson and enjoy working with people, especially children as many lesson opportunities are with children. Hours vary according to program and lesson type. Lifeguard certification is helpful as well, but not required.
