Wang - Youth and Family Program Director, full time summer

The Wang YMCA is looking for a Youth and Family Program Director to be a hands- on manager for its afterschool program and upcoming summer camp. While this is an interim position, a successful candidate will be seriously considered for continued employment in the fall.

This position is primarily responsible for developing and overseeing the School Age After School Program (SACC), vacation and summer camps and youth/teen programs consistent with the mission and goals of the YMCA of Greater Boston. Additional responsibilities include providing direct supervision and staffing for the programs and the hiring and training of staff to assist with program delivery.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:

1. Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations.
2. Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand individual's goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
3. Serve as program administrator for the Wang YMCA of Chinatown School Age Child Care Program on and off site.
4. Serve as director of vacation and summer camps on and off site.
5. Be knowledgeable of SACC and camping regulations.
6. Ensure SACC program and camp meet OCCS and state camping requirements.
7. Hire, train and supervise SACC and camp staff.
8. Maintain and update children's records as required.
9. Develop SACC and camp curriculums and schedules.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education or related field.
• Must meet EEC requirements for school age child care.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW:

• Must have some supervisory experience and be capable of handling administrative responsibilities.
• Strong commitment to youth development and to YMCA mission required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to parents and youth.
