Hyde Park - Member Services Representative, part time

The Hyde Park YMCA is looking for a warm and responsible Member Services Representative.  This position pays $8 to $10 per hour, depending on experience. 

This position is primarily responsible for the following key areas:

• Front desk operations including membership sales, program registration, branch tours, cash/credit card transactions, and other data entry
• Process payments and transactions in accordance with all YMCA of Greater Boston policies
• Provide excellent customer service to members and participants through telephone and in person
• Assist in maintaining all records and reports generated by department operations, e.g., tour cards, membership files, EFT records, and assist with monthly reporting for the Membership Coordinator
• Maintenance of program information and schedules
• Provide a minimum of 15 hours direct service at the membership desk and evening building supervision.
• Conduct regular rounds of the building and inspect first aid kits during the evening and weekday hours and complete building supervision report each night to be handed into the Membership Coordinator.
• Communicate any problems or issues to supervisor in a timely manner
• Ability to be flexible to be available if needed for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holiday.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Participation in design and implementation of a membership sales and retention campaign
• Involvement in special events related to member service and promotion
• Assist in managing inventory for department related supplies.
• Participate in staff meetings, quality teams and professional training as appropriate.
• Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals.
• Document all incidents and accidents.
• Present and uphold department and branch policies, regardless of whether in agreement or not with said policies, while keeping the emphasis on customer service.
• Assume other duties deemed necessary by the Membership Coordinator.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or its equivalent from an accredited school.
• At least one year experience in customer service and experience with cash handling.
• Experience using and troubleshooting office machinery including telephones, fax machines and copiers.
• Demonstrated maturity, punctuality and follow-through
