Charles River - Member Experience/ Fitness Director, full time
The Charles River YMCA is seeking an experienced, full time, outgoing Member Experience Director. This person is responsible for the supervision and management of all facets of assigned total health and wellness programs and the membership department in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of Greater Boston.
This position is the membership, Health and Wellness Champion for the branch and must assist each department in providing resources and support to help implement and maintain quality of health and wellness in their programs. The programs should include, but are not limited to, health and wellness (fitness) programs in each department for adults, youth, teens, seniors and special populations.Must demonstrate an ability to schedule, promote and carry out fitness and wellness programming.
Additional responsibilities including supervising and managing water and land group exercise coordinator and programming. This person is also responsible for the development, administration, supervision and membership service delivery of the Fitness and Membership Departments. This position reports to the Operations Director.
The salary range for this position is $38,000 to $42,000. This position requires flexibility in one's schedule to include some evening, some early morning and some weekend hours.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
1. Develop, implement and oversee all Health and Wellness Programs for every department that reflect the community's needs and maintain the YMCA's high standards of quality, safety and character development.
2. Train, supervise and evaluate Membership Consultants, group exercise instructors, and volunteers as programs dictate and budget guidelines allow.
3. Integrate a comprehensive health, wellness and membership approach in all programs for children, youth, teens, adults, and special populations.
4. Must understand the relationship of the general public, including Public School System, to the Charles River Branch and Total Health and Wellness Programs and be able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.
6. Develop and implement annual budgets for assigned program and membership areas, and manage agreed upon budgets within operating guidelines.
7. Responsible for program and membership enrollment, retention, evaluation, payment records, and reporting of records to the Operations Director.
8. Oversee all purchases and maintain department related supplies within budget guidelines and maintain a clean and safe program area.
9. Participate in staff meetings, Board of Director meetings, and professional training as appropriate.
10. Attend appropriate quality team as it relates to Total Health and Membership.
11. Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA's mission and goals.
12. Act as a role model and incorporate character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into the daily operation of the YMCA.
13. Assume other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree in exercise science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
* At least three years experience in instructing related programs.
* At least three years experience managing others
* Experience in personal training, and health and wellness programming.
* Background in internal marketing/special events.
* Strong written and verbal communications skills
* Competency in Excel, Word, and Publisher
* Comfort with using the web as an advertising medium.
Salary: $38,000 - $42,000
