Work at the Y

Waltham - Guitar Instructor, part time

The Waltham Family YMCA is currently offering low-cost guitar lessons for beginners and intermediate players, in order to increase music and arts availablility in the greater Waltham community. We have had a tremendous amount of interest in the program, and in order to meet the demand, we need a few more instructors.

Instructors will be responsible for scheduling and arriving on time for appointments with clients, choosing and following a lesson plan that is appropriate for the client's ability, and maintaining a record of skills the client has learned.

Our clients currently range in age from 8 to 68, and generally have minimal to no experience with playing an instrument.

Required Qualifications:
We are looking for anyone who has a great teaching ability and is at least a moderately capable guitar player. Maybe you have a full-time job elsewhere and would like to help spread music appreciation in your spare time? Maybe you're a college student looking for a little extra cash each week?

Applicants must audition to prove acceptable musical and interpersonal skills.

Also, if you play another instrument that you think we may be able to start teaching here at the Y, please feel free to apply!

To apply to the position, please contact Chad Hadsell at chadsell@ymcaboston.org or (781) 894-5295 x114
