Hyde Park - Teen Counselor, part time

The Hyde Park YMCA is looking for an energetic Teen Counselor. The counselor will work in direct service with teens; creating, implementing and sustaining programs in and outside of the YMCA's Teen Center. The counselor will work under the Youth Outreach Director to staff the Teen Center, lead programs and develop a strong department to serve urban teens. Interest in leading teens in outdoor and environmental trips is a plus.

The counselor will work from 2-7 a few days a week and one weekend day. Pay is $10-$12 per hour.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Ensure the safety of all staff, members and program participants.
2. Desire and ability to work with the Outreach Director to staff the center, reach out to teens in the community and establish and maintain teen programs.
3. Demonstrate responsible financial management.
4. Work with staff to organize fundraisers and write grants.
5. Attend weekly staff meetings as needed.
6. Assist with YMCA and Teen Center events as needed.
7. Represent the YMCA in the local community.

Education and Experience:

1. Must be a licensed driver with a safe driving record and are willing to obtain a 7-D license to drive 15-passanger type van. Must be able to obtain this license within 30 days of hiring.
2. Must be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within 3 months.
3. Has experience or is willing to learn to lead teen trips outdoors.
