Graduate on Time (GOT-IT)

“Got it” stands for the Graduate on-time initiative, which is a program created by the East Boston Taskforce that targets  9th graders who are at risk of dropping out (either from attendance, tardiness or failing grades in core classes) and provides them with support via a part time coordinator who connects them with resources the students need to progress through school, this can be via programs in our network (tutoring, extracurricular activities, jobs etc.) or school programs. Youth are given that extra support via our coordinator through the school day and after. Relationships with families are also key to the success of students and Got-It acknowledges this through parent interactions and meetings. Youth are given that extra mentor piece we feel is needed in order to follow progress through school and graduate.”

In the 2012-2013 school year, 24 out of the 25 students enrolled graduated on time.  Overall, 186 students who participated in the program over the last six years have graduated on time, an 88% success rate.
