About Us

WHAT WE DO

Unemployed men and women come to YMCA Training, Inc. to acquire the skills to realize a successful career. Local Boston businesses come to us searching for diverse, committed talent. Since 1984, YMCA Training, Inc. has helped meet the staffing needs of over 200 Boston-area employers by providing the skills and dedication of over 4,000 graduates of our program.

Who We Serve

Underemployed or unemployed low-income individuals come to us to and their world opens up again. Many who walk through our doors were professionals in their home country but could only find service jobs in the U.S.

Others have only had the chance to work dead-end jobs in retail or the food service industry. They are seeking a career with opportunity for growth and continued learning. They want a path to self-sufficiency for their families and for themselves. To read more about who we serve, click here.

Our Unique Curriculum

Our program is nationally recognized for the innovative business simulations that prepare trainees to use their new skills under “real work” pressure. Trainees are immersed in a virtual office complete with hands-on projects, live customer service training, supervisory relationships, and simulated business challenges, strengthening problem-solving skills and sharpening workflow understanding and team communication.   YMCA Training, Inc. is not afraid to hold our trainees to high standards. As in the professional world, trainees maintain a respect for attendance, punctuality, business attire, and a professional attitude.
